The library cooperatives of Michigan often work together to negotiate purchasing discounts for libraries in Michigan.
If you are looking to purchase something new, whether a physical or electronic item, there are places to look first in order to see if there have been discounts negotiated on your behalf.
First, look at the TLN website under the link for co-op discounts at http://tln.lib.mi.us/discounts
If you are an MCLS member, you can go to the MCLS website and view available vendor discounts at http://mcls.org/eresources-pro
If you do not see a vendor discount available in either place, please contact your library cooperative director to see if there are negotiations in the works for what you want to purchase. The Cooperatives are always working together to negotiate discounts from various library vendors as a group. This process often results in better discounts for all.
